Defensive Training Solution, led by experienced firearms instructor and IDPA/USPSA champion Charlie Gautier offers comprehensive firearms training to civilians and law enforcement agencies around the Nation and Caribbean. With a background in law enforcement and a passion for competitive shooting, Charlie brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his clients. Charlie, At the age of 19 decided he wanted to be a sworn Law Enforcement officer and did so for many years. After leaving Law Enforcement to explore different pastures, he started missing the firearms culture. In 2007 he found IDPA competitions and it was a love at first shot. After traveling the world shooting IDPA, and winning championships, he merged into USPSA. That was when a passion became an obsession. What started as a hobby, became something bigger when he decided to take competitive shooting seriously. Since then, he has won several divisions, state championships and picked up amazing sponsors along the way. For him, It has been quite a journey shooting matches and rubbing elbows with the best in the sport. What he has learned along this journey, has prepared him to become a great firearms instructor. He strongly believes training develops your firearms skills and confidence while giving you the ability to protect yourself and your loved ones. TRAINING, SKILL, ABILITY.

Why invest in firearms training?

You just purchase a firearms during this uncertain times. Now what? A firearm is a tool and nothing more. Like any tool, you must become proficient with it in order for such tool to be effective. Once you commit to the responsibility of carrying a firearm, any situation you are involved from that moment forward there is a firearm involved. Training is done in all professions and defending your life and the lives of those you love should be a priority. You are your first responder and when seconds matter the police unfortunately are minutes away. The benefits of proper training is to reduce liability, increase your knowledge, skills, and situational awareness. Training will prepare you to react and be confident on making good judgment calls. You, as a responsible armed citizen should invest in your firearm training. Put the liability on the bad guy before you spend more money on accessories and other guns. This is your life we are talking about. Train, learn a skill and have the ability to become proficient. In a gun fight you should be doing one of three things: shooting, moving and/or reloading. When was the last time you were able to train this at a indoor range stall?

I have access to two outdoor training facilities in central Florida. One is located in Lake Wales and one in Lake Nona. Arrangements can be made to teach in your city or state.

Facts

80.9% of victims are shot within 2-5 feet.

In 2017, gun deaths reached their highest level since 1968 with 39,773 deaths by firearm. 14,542 were homicides.

The average robbery/shooting lasts only a few seconds and home invasions between 5 to 7 minutes.

National average police response is 9 minutes 35 seconds to protect you.

The Supreme Court ruled the police does not have a duty to protect a person from harm. Remember, you are your first responder.

Florida Concealed Carry Permit information

CCW classes are scheduled in groups or as part of an Introduction to Firearms Class and/or a Private lesson.
Permits issued to Residents and Non-residents.
Valid for 7 Years

Must obtain a Firearms Safety Course completion certificate from a NRA certified Instructor as a state requirement.

Introduction to Firearms

This class will serve as a starting point for your foundation to firearms education. It is designed for those who are new to firearms and want to be more proficient. The main goal of this 2 hour course is to master the basics and to safely operate and maintain a handgun.

Course outline:

Range safety rules and commands.
Firearm familiarization and recommended upgrades.
Student evaluation
Selecting the right gear.

Several types of firearms and revolvers will be offered for you to familiarize yourself with the different types of everyday carry.
Loading and unloading
Fundamentals of marksmanship
Trigger control
Proper draw
Reloads

Firearm maintenance

Equipment required:

Safety glasses
Hearing protection
Primary pistol (One can be provided)
Two Magazines minimum
Outside or Inside Kydex type holster – (no Blackhawk Serpa’s or leather holsters allowed for safety reasons) We can work around not owning a holster on this course.
Ammo: 200 rounds (for the caliber of pistol used

Cost: $300 (Private Setting)

$225 (Group Setting 4 minimum)

Introduction to AR Style Carbine

This isn’t your grandfather’s rifle. Modern sporting rifles offer shooters a lighter, more serviceable and infinitely customizable weapon system ideal for any situation. Functionality, operation, manipulation and marksmanship will be the focus of our day.

There’s a reason is called “America’s rifle”. As soon as you start hammering rounds down range with a speed and precision unlike anything you’ve felt before, you’ll understand why. This course starts at the range, covering the unique components and functionality of this masterpiece. Then you’ll begin developing the skills necessary to unlock the performance engineered into this incredible firearm.

Equipment required:

Shooting glasses
Hearing protection
Primary rifle (One can be provided)
Rifle sling
Extra Magazines – 3 minimum
Spare magazine pouch
Ammo: 200-250 rounds (for the caliber of rifle selected)

Duration: 5 hrs

Cost: $350.00 (private setting)

$250.00 (Group Setting)

Self Defense Pistol

If you own a handgun for personal or home defense, you need to take this course. You will leave with the confidence knowing you can defend yourself in a deadly scenario if God forbid the need arises. I will take you from your basic fundamentals to shooting from cover or on the move. I will teach you different ways to get in the fight and out of it fast, accurate and lethal which is what you want to be when your life is on the line. Things happen fast and you need to be prepared. We are going to shoot, move and sweat this day. Make no mistake, I will push you to your limits like your life depends on it as it does. No classroom talk, no time filling. We are going to put in work and I am there to improve you and work you.

Over the hours of training we will shoot various drills tailored to your needs to help you gain that confidence with your firearm while shooting under stress. You can not train a real life scenario shooting from a stall with controlled firing. It's a whole different ballgame when movement and stress is involved.

Primary pistol (Preferably the one you carry or home defense gun)
Extra Magazines – 3 minimum
Outside or Inside Kydex holster – (no Blackhawk Serpa’s or leather holsters allowed)
Spare magazine pouch – (1 minimum)
Ammo: 250 Minimum for the caliber of pistol used

Duration: 3-4 hrs

Cost: $350 (Private setting)

$200 (group setting 4 person minimum)

Self Defense Rifle

This is an intermediate level class. The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, and foundational marksmanship skills. Basic Rifle & Basic Pistol fundamental classes are strongly recommended before this course.

Course Outline:

Manipulate the rifle efficiently and effectively
Improve marksmanship fundamentals
Zero a rifle
Utilize ready positions
Efficiently and effectively reload a rifle
Ammo management skills / tactical reloads
Transition from rifle to pistol
Clearing malfunctions
Engage multiple targets with efficiency and speed
Engage targets utilizing pivots/turns and lateral movement
Improve accuracy from prone, kneeling, and seated positions
Properly utilize cover
Shoot, move, communicate skills

Equipment required:

Shooting glasses
Hearing protection
Primary pistol and rifle (Preferably the one you carry or home defense gun)
Extra Magazines – 3 minimum
Outside or Inside Kydex holster – (no Blackhawk Serpa’s or leather holsters allowed)
Choice of sling for rifle
Spare magazine pouches – (2 minimum for pistil 1 for AR. Plate carrier works)
Ammo: Approximately 250 pistol 200 rounds for rifle

Duration: 5-6 hrs

Cost: $350 (Private setting)

$225 (group setting 4 person minimum)

Personal Defense SHotgun

A shotgun is an extremely versatile self defense weapon. No other weapon is as versatile in our opinion. An introduction to using pump or semi auto shotguns for self defense/home defense is highly recommended to understand its limitations. Learn how to run your shotgun as if your life depends on it. Discussion and lessons on pros and cons of the platform, setting up the gun, sights, ammo selection, patterning, controlling recoil and loading the gun under pressure.

Shooting glasses
Hearing protection
Primary shotgun (Preferably the one you chose for home defense)
Choice of sling for shotgun
Ammo: Approximately 100 Shotgun shells, 20 Rifle Slug Duration: 4 hrs

Cost: $350 Private Setting

$225 (group setting 4 person minimum)

Self Defense Pistol Group Class

This option is the best bang for your buck. Everything that is included in the Self Defense Pistol 1, but among fellow shooters and friends. This is set up for groups of 4 or more. This option is the most popular among friends, family, corporate groups and church security details. The class can be scheduled or you can sign up to one of the many classes I offer throughout the year at different ranges. Classes ranges from 6-8 hours depending on group sizes.
